Material Witness – Heart of the City Festival
Vancouver Moving Theatre/15th Annual Downtown Eastside Heart of the City Festival present Material Witness
An Aanmitaagzi and Spiderwoman Theater Production
OCT. 26 & 27, 2018 at 8PM at the Ukrainian Hall (805 E. Pender Street) in Vancouver
Three generations of Indigenous women bring forth their personal stories, investigating violence and healing in their lives. The stories burst onto the stage in absurd, raucous, and highly energized storytelling, dance and music. An unknown ancient woman rises out of the earth and conjures the space where the women tell their stories. She is a witness to their intimate secrets as they navigate a path through their lives. Material Witness is the journey of their healing.
"… An enormous sense of energy, strength and good will. Yet its subject is dead serious…"
